My Background

A native Oklahoman, I earned my degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. I worked in industry for 25+ years as an Industrial Engineer, investment advisor, and small business owner. I returned to academia to get my M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Louisville, where I joined the faculty in both Computer Science and Industrial Engineering. My wife and I relocated to Stillwater about 7 years ago when I joined the faculty of Oklahoma State University Department of Industrial Engineering and Management. I have a strong background in financial analysis and process improvement that would prove beneficial to the Council and the City. My 15-plus years as a small business owner have given me insight to the challenges of meeting a payroll and serving customers.

Connections With the Community

When my wife and I relocated here, I made a concerted effort to become involved in the fabric of this community. I completed Leadership Stillwater class 26, and the Citizen’s Police Academy. I currently serve as Communications Director of Stillwater Frontier Rotary Club

I have continually maintained contact with a wide range of citizens of this community via involvement in various service works.

I volunteer with Our Daily Bread's food recovery program. I help with Food Sacks for Kids programs. I am a Deacon of my church where I support a “Little Free Pantry.” and volunteer for many community outreach projects through my Rotary club and church.

Service to Stillwater

I currently serve on two City boards:

  1. Stillwater Regional Airport Advisory Board.  The board is charged with reviewing airport regulations, and operations policies, directing planning activities, and making recommendations to the City Council concerning the betterment of aviation within the city.
  2. Board of Adjustment. The Board is empowered by city code to conduct hearings and render decisions on matters of appeals, variances, and special exceptions to zoning ordinances.

Goals While on Council

While on the City Council, I have 2 primary goals:

  1. Work with the City to provide timely, transparent information about major projects currently underway. There would be one place where community members could get a current updates on projects such as Perkins Road, Block 34 and Washington School.
  2. Support the work of Vibrant Stillwater task force to improve the quality of life for all members of the community, to attract tourism and to aid in economic development with the ultimate goal of benefiting all in the community.

I recognize that these goals must fit in the framework of budgets and requirements of basic city services. I will work with the City on goal directed fiscal responsibility.
